Whilst our volunteer editors will do their best to ensure our events listings are as up to date and accurate as possible; with the fast pace of how things are changing, it is inevitable that some will slip through the net. If you are planning on travelling for larger events, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly to avoid disappointment. We are putting in place new measures to give event organisers a friendly reminder to see if they wish to remove cancelled events, so we're sorry if it looks a bit bare in here :(
If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for free, professional advice.
Work experience with your local wildlife trust, 12th August 2025 to 14th August 2025, 9:30 to 15:00 at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre (11.4 miles)
A 3 day work experience style course for 15-17 year olds at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre.
Are you considering a career in wildlife conservation or environmental education? Would you like a hands on chance to find out what a job in a wildlife charity could feel like? Join a small group (max 12 places) for our packed 3 day work experience style course on our nature reserve at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre. Each day will include various activities run by our experienced learning team. Start by finding out more about job roles in conservation, from rangers and learning officers to marketing officers, ecologists and membership recruiters - it's not all about chain sawing and planting trees! You will have the chance to try your hand at practical conservation tasks helping us to maintain the nature reserve, practice wildlife ID skills and learn surveying techniques - from small mammals to moths. We'll look at marketing and engagement materials and discuss the challenges wildlife, the climate, and those seeking to work in the sector are facing. The course will also be a chance to meet other young wildlife enthusiasts and explore ideas for your future. Unlike many work experience opportunities participants will receive dedicated time and attention from BBOWT staff members throughout the course which is specifically designed to give them the best possible learning experience. Previous participants have said "I found the course super enjoyable. I also found the activities very inspiring for my future career." and "This course has been brilliant, I would definitely recommend it to my peers. Thank you!" Each participant will receive a certificate at the end of the course. Don't forget to add it to your personal statement/CV!
This is a 3 day course - please make sure you are able to attend for all three days. The course is suitable for young people aged 15 to 17 years and is led by our experienced learning team. Participants must return a completed parental consent form before the start of the course.
